- As best as I can recall on the A500 (various motherboard versions), any
- extra sockets are for lower density memory, and cannot be used if higher
- density memory is installed; it only supports 512k on the board.
-
- The extra 512k is obtained from the RAM in the trapdoor slot. I don't have
- the docs for doing this at the moment, but I'm sure that someone can come up
- with it; also, I know it's on aminet.
-
- Essentially, the modification (with a 1meg Agnus installed) changed 512k on
- the RAM board into chip ram, changing its address.

- For the Supra 500XP, there are RAM sockets on the board in the drive, toward
- the front. On the older controller, I can't recall for sure, but I think it
- used a similar arrangement. On the 500XP, these were usually filled up with 2
- megs of ram, 16 DIP chips 256kx4; but these could be replaced with 1Mx4 to
- allow 4 or 8 megs total. Costwise, this isn't a good deal unless you can get
- the RAM chips used or extremely cheap; SIMMs are much less expensive nowadays.
